Status report 2026.06.18: the crate and combat polish update

Crate inventory got a full rework into Closed, Sealed and Opened buckets, a real targeting HUD with a casualty tally, and a new Nexus Rift logo.

Crates - Big Overhaul

Your crate inventory got a full rework, and a couple of broken crates finally work.

  • Three clear buckets at /workshop/crates - Closed (ready to open now) is shown by default, with Sealed (held but not openable yet) and Opened husks tucked behind their own “Show” toggles so your actionable crates aren’t buried. Each bucket shows a live count.
  • Open all of a type in one click - drowning in hundreds of crates? Each type now has an “Open all” button with live progress (e.g. “Opening… 250/466”) and a single summary grid at the end instead of a cinematic per crate.
  • Mech crates open now - mech crates finally have a working Open action with the full 3D reveal.
  • Skin crates work (and got a clearer name) - the old “Veteran Skin” crate was silently eating itself with a “Coming soon” message. It’s now just the Skin crate and actually grants a cosmetic skin when opened.
  • Reworked crate-open VFX - the open sequence got a fresh particle effect pass, plus Skip and Back buttons so you’re never stuck watching the animation.

Arena & Battle

  • Targeting just got a real aiming HUD - when you line up a NUKE or AIRSTRIKE:
    • A live casualty tally names every faction (ZHI / BC / RM) caught under your current aim, with counts that update as you move the cursor.
    • Your own faction is flagged with a ⚠ warning if it’s in the blast - friendly fire is now a deliberate choice, not an accident.
    • Faction-colored ground rings sit under every live mech while you target (ZHI white, BC blue, RM red), and your own faction gets a distinct double amber ring.
  • Cleaner finish to every battle - the winning blow now plays out properly: the final kill animates instead of freezing in place, the battlefield holds for a beat, then the victory card lands. No more last mech locked in a T-pose.
  • Repair & Nuke fixes - retuned nuke damage and fixed the repair ion-cannon beam so it lines up where it should.
  • Tug of War paced for real fights - cadence retuned to fit the ~2-minute battle length so the bidding war actually resolves within the fight.
  • Removed the leftover All-In control, and fixed a few HUD nits - battle number display, a cut-off toast, and targeting zoom.

Workshop

  • Know exactly why a mech is unavailable - instead of a blanket “Locked” or “Destroyed”, mechs now show their real state: Damaged, In battle, Queued, or Listed. Repair buttons read “Damaged” too.
  • New loadout drawer - the loadout editor now slides out as a collapsible shelf with a cleaner two-pane layout, wider slots, and a see-through filter bar so you can see your mech while you tinker.

Marketplace

  • Shareable listing links - every listing (mech, subsystem, or skin) now opens as its own real page you can deep-link and share, not just a modal.
  • Skin listings preview the actual skin - a listed skin now shows on its real chassis preview instead of the plain stock model.

Auctions

  • Cleaner bid feed - the recent-bids list no longer shows duplicates, and the quick-bid amount always recalculates off the current top bid.

New Look

  • New Nexus Rift drone logo - a fresh logo now rides across the favicons, app icons, social share images, and the marketing wordmark.
