These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Nexus Rift, including the game client, website, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.
2. The Service
Nexus Rift is a continuous, always-on multiplayer game you watch and influence. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service — including features, in-game economies, and game balance — at any time. Because the game runs continuously, outcomes, seasons, and content evolve over time.
3. Your Account
You sign in through our authentication provider. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping your login secure. Provide accurate information, don't impersonate others, and don't share or sell your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
4. Virtual Items and Virtual Currency
The Service includes virtual currency ("NXR"), virtual items (such as mechs, subsystems, skins, and crates), and other in-game entitlements (collectively, "Virtual Items"). Virtual Items exist only within the Service.
- Virtual Items have no monetary value, are not real money or a substitute for it, and cannot be redeemed, exchanged, or withdrawn for cash or anything of real-world value.
- When you acquire Virtual Items you receive a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use them within the Service — you do not own them and acquire no property right in them.
- We may create, remove, adjust, re-balance, or expire Virtual Items, and may change how they are earned, priced, or used, at any time.
- Trading and transfers are permitted only through features we provide inside the Service. Selling, buying, or transferring Virtual Items outside the Service is prohibited.
- Any balance of Virtual Items may be forfeited if your account is terminated for a breach of these Terms, or when the Service is discontinued.
5. Purchases, Subscriptions, and Refunds
You can buy Virtual Items and optional subscriptions ("Alpha Citizen") with real money through our payment processors or the applicable app store. Prices are shown before purchase and may include tax. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and it takes effect at the end of the current period. Where you purchase through an app store, that store's terms and refund policies also apply.
To the extent permitted by law, purchases of Virtual Items are final and non-refundable. Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory refund or withdrawal rights you have as a consumer (for example, EU/UK consumer law) — where those rights apply, they prevail.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- cheat, use bots, automation, exploits, or unauthorized third-party software;
- disrupt, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other accounts;
- engage in fraud, chargeback abuse, money laundering, or payment manipulation;
- harass, abuse, or harm other players, or post unlawful or infringing content;
- reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the Service except as permitted by law.
7. User Conduct and Content
You are responsible for your interactions with others and for anything you submit (such as a display name). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host and display content you submit for the purpose of operating the Service. We may remove content and restrict conduct that violates these Terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service and its content — code, art, audio, and trademarks — are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial play, subject to these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, Virtual Items, or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, including for a breach of these Terms. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. Some provisions survive termination, including sections on Virtual Items, intellectual property, disclaimers, and liability.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of Nexus Rift is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
