Status report 2026.06.22: the mobile arena overhaul
The mobile battle experience was rebuilt from the ground up, plus a wave of combat, clan and economy fixes.
The mobile battle experience has been rebuilt from the ground up, plus a wave of combat, clan, and economy fixes.
Mobile Arena (rebuilt)
- All-new battle HUD: the 3D fight now fills the whole screen with a clean overlay on top, instead of the old squished half-canvas with tabs underneath.
- Mech bar: enemy mechs line the left edge; your own faction’s mechs fan out from a tap button in the bottom-right, each with its portrait and HP/shield gauges.
- Mech info card: tap any mech to focus it: HP, shield, abilities, pilot, and (for player mechs) who deployed it. During the pre-battle intro you just get the focused card.
- Spectator abilities: now a right-edge rail of hexagon pips showing live prices and charge progress.
- Tug of War: a top pop-up that takes over when a round is live, replacing the old faction-standings strip.
- Floating chat: an ephemeral chat feed + compose bar over the arena; tap a player’s name to start an Emoji War and stake NXR on them.
- Camera: orbit and pinch-zoom, anchored on whichever mech you’ve focused.
- Aim in 3D: Airstrike / Nuke / Repair targeting now happens right on the 3D battlefield (the old 2D minimap modal is gone).
- Polish: circle buttons, donut charge rings, a selection ring on only the mech you’ve focused, a slim top bar with the battle number + your wallet, and shared HUD chrome that matches desktop.
Combat & Mechs
- Real mech portraits: every mech now shows a rendered picture of its actual chassis wearing its actual skin (player-built and generated mechs included), not a generic silhouette.
- Meatier melee: slashes reach further and last longer, and the slash now lines up properly with the swing.
- Smoother dodging: heavy mechs no longer shuffle on the spot while weaving.
- Storm sense: mechs flee the closing storm instead of standing on the edge bleeding out.
- Repair crate now heals 30% of a mech’s max HP (was a flat 300).
- Balance: BC (Enforcer) house mechs move twice as fast.
- Fixed: a deployed mech now fights for its owner’s current faction instead of a stale stamp.
- Fixed: mechs no longer vanish from the arena mid-fight (crash-consistent battle lifecycle).
- Fixed: the empty-arena bug where a brief storage hiccup could start a battle with no mechs on the field.
- Fixed: a crash on the 3D views on mobile Safari.
Factions & Clans
- Clans are here (v1): create, join, leave, and view your clan and its members. Your deployed mechs wear your clan tag.
- Faction lock: your faction is now locked once you pick it.
- Canon names: factions use their canonical names now (ZHI is Zenkoku Heavy Industries).
Economy
- Fixed: faction backing now respects the 5,000 NXR per-battle cap: MAX fills in 5,000 instead of your whole balance and bouncing, and the amount field can finally be cleared and retyped.
- Fixed: the guaranteed-floor top-up on a winning back now actually pays out.
- Fixed: a “charged but no skin” bug in the buy flow.
- Can’t afford it? the Buy button is now disabled in the shop and on crates, instead of letting you fail at checkout.
- More reliable auctions: if a skin fails to generate for one chassis, that day’s auction is skipped and retried rather than failing to start.
Notifications
- Fixed: duplicate deploy / post-battle toasts: notifications no longer fire twice.
Look & Sound
- Faction battle music: each faction has its own combat theme and victory outro; ZHI now leans into taiko drums and futuristic synths.
- New brand mark: a single pulse-logo across the app.
- Minimap colours units by faction instead of all-grey.
